We'd like you home like yesterday, we miss you. But that has to be your decision. Listen to your heart & gut feeling and the BIG BOSS from above. Love you so much, Grandma

Re: Zumba, Ecuador to Peru, 45km (bike)

Sounds like an amazing adventure! It is dangerous to wear (even only one earbud), because I need to hear traffic. I would never wear it at night in the fog.

Often I listen to raucous music when I need a little extra motivation to make it up a hill. Otherwise I listen to podcasts and recorded radio shows about science, comedy, or other random stuff.

The sound of nature is nice, but after multiple 8-10 hour days it loses its charm. When I catch myself talking to myself, then I know it is time to pull out the iPod.

Re: Cuenca -> O単a, 100km (bike)

Ha! The part about the guy telling you there was a half hour left reminds me of my backpacking trips when the trail seems to go on forever. When you ask someone coming in the opposite direction how far it is to the campsite, they tell you it's right around the corner. An hour later and you are still hiking! It is truly best not to think about it. Just keep moving.
Aunt Patti

Re: O単a -> Loja, 110km (bike)

What a great post. Maybe change it many times. I admire you for living the dream. Everyone has to live their dream their own way. If this truly is your dream, no reason to hide it in the closet. Just keep us posted periodically so we know you are still alive and safe.
